FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Full Cord releases new single and music video “Ghost of Good Times”
Nashville, TN (July 28, 2023) - 2022 IBMA Momentum Band Award winner and 2022 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition winner, Michigan-based Full Cord releases their debut single and music video on Dark Shadow Recording label.

Producer, Stephen Mougin shares: “Ghost of Good Times is a fiery number that really highlights the strengths of Full Cord. Brian’s convincing delivery, as a story he’s lived before, is backed by the counter play of banjo and fiddle melodies and the solid bass, mandolin, and guitar rhythm section. I heard them do this tune live one time and knew it had to go on the project.”

Brian Oberlin (lead vocals and mandolin) says: "Ghost of Good Times was written by my longtime music partner Glenn House of Portland, Oregon. We started the Michigan-based band Grasshoppah in 2001 and played nearly 1000 shows over a busy 5 year period. Glenn’s song-writing and music acumen has always inspired me and his song has made me laugh and cry on stage/studio since it was written in 2011. Those emotions from me are generally reserved for Beethoven’s or Shostakovich’s music but Glenn has found a way to strike a chord.

My view of “Ghost” is a strong sentiment that I closely relate to as not only are the lyrics a song-writer’s story, in the fashion of John Prine and Greg Brown (both musicians Glenn and I adore), but the content hits home as I have struggled with letting go of alcohol and drugs that facilitate “good times”. Glenn’s version is slow and epic in its anthem like themes while Full Cord’s version has a little speed and fire under it; as if we are dancing with the Ghost, but not hand in hand and on a different dance floor."

The single was premiered yesterday by Daniel Mullins on his “Midday Music Spectacular” show on Real Roots Radio and The Grateful Web premiered the music video today. WATCH IT HERE.

Gabe Hirshfeld joins Full Cord
Gabe Hirshfeld grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. At the age of fifteen, while listening to the NPR show Car Talk, he heard the great banjo player Earl Scruggs. The sound of the banjo spoke to him in a way that no other sound ever had and it changed his life. After playing and obsessing over the banjo for several years he won the Lowell Fiddle and Banjo Competition bluegrass division several times and was the last winner of the New England Banjo Championship at the Ossipee Valley Music Festival. Gabe started to play in various bands around Boston before attending Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee he joined together with several fellow students to create the Lonely Heartstring Band with whom he toured and recorded with for many years.

Lloyd Douglas joins Full Cord Bluegrass
FCB is thrilled to announce the addition of Lloyd Douglas on Banjo.
Lloyd is from Alpena, Michigan. He has played Banjo, Guitar, Fiddle, and Mandolin in several bluegrass, country/rock, jazz, and blues bands.
He has been a member of David Davis and the Warrior River Boys, Jim & Jesse and the Virginia Boys, and Detour.
Lloyd has filled in with Lynn Morris Band, Audie Blaylock, and Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper. While with the Warrior River Boys he recorded on the famed Basement sessions for legendary WAMU DJ Ray Davis.
As a member of Jim & Jesse he played on the Grand Ole Opry. Lloyd also had the privilege of playing on Michael Cleveland's Grammy nominated album Fiddler's Dream.

This song was written while Mandolin player Brian Oberlin was living in Portland, Oregon and paints a pretty solid picture of any Downtown environment.

We recorded this live with a studio audience, at Third Coast Recording Studios in Grand Haven
