The Bigdumbhick, (aka Jeff Wall) is a 6 foot 7inch, 360+lb, bib-overall wearing, solo acoustic singer, songwriter, storyteller, and funny man from the Triad region of North Carolina.

With a background in Bluegrass and Honky-Tonk, He lays down a groove that will make your feet and your bottom move. Possessed of a sardonic wit, he is a hilarious, natural performer, one with a penchant for writing darkly humorous songs, songs which will often contain a hidden or subtle golden nugget - some profound insight or message that will make you realize he's not just singing about his life, but he's singing about your life as well. He is fearless on stage. One moment he will have you crying with laughter, and then out of the blue he will hit you with something extremely personal, raw, deep, and emotionally moving, causing your jaw, and occasionally a few tears, to hit the ground.

"A Little Bit Weird." is his 4th CD release. When asked to try to describe this new record, He will tell people to imagine Imagine The Rolling Stones - “Exile on Main Street” mixed with NWA “Straight Out of Compton” with a dash of Pink Floyd - “Dark Side of the Moon” thrown in for flavor.

- This record sounds nothing like that.

This is a mostly acoustic record, he plays acoustic guitar on every track. A few tracks feature a rhythm section of a stand-up bass and a drum kit. There is some banjo on one track and accordion on another, but not both on the same track because he's no sociopath. There is some pedal steel and electric guitar on a few tracks, just enough to add flavor and emphasis, but not enough to develop a bad cocaine habit.

He wrote all of the songs on this record, songs about fat old circus bears, cheap hotels, hardware stores, hitch-hikers, heathens, heartbreak, living, laughing, loving, cheating, leaving, dying, and a 1972 Ford Econoline with a three-speed manual transmission.

This is a more grown up release than previous ones. There are the humorous songs which people have come to expect from him - "Every Bone in Her Body", and "Ain't Nobody In Here Listening to Me“(aka The Brewery Song.) There are songs filled with metaphor and allegory such as "Unicycle", There are philosophical songs - "I Don't Know Where I'm Going" and there are a number of deeply personal songs - "I Ain't Afraid of Dying", "Help me Mama, I Can't Breathe", "First Cup of Coffee", and “Choices", songs which are sometimes difficult for him to get through when playing live because of the memories and feelings they provoke in him.

Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers recently said from the stage of the RamKat in Winston-Salem, NC:

”Earlier I went upstairs and I saw Jeff Wall, he calls himself Bigdumbhick and you know... he’s really big, and he’s undeniably kind of a hick, but there ain’t nothing dumb about that mother****er, he’s smarter than I could ever dream of being, and he writes really f***ing great songs and he has gotten So. F***ing. Good.

I was up there, and I was laughing my **** off, and several times I had tears in my eyes, and I was so blown away and I’m so proud of him.”

What you see is what you get. There's no pretense, no posturing, no bullshit. Well, maybe a little bullshit, but he’s real. He is what he is and he ain’t ashamed of it. There’s never any telling what he’s gonna say or do, but whatever it is, it’s gonna be fun!
