Born and raised in Tallahassee Florida Chad's early years were infused with the rich tapestry of local music, from rock and roll to the soulful sounds of the blues, the twang of country and the high lonesome melodies of bluegrass that drifted through the air like the scent of orange blossoms. It was in this fertile musical soil that Chad's journey as a performer, singer/songwriter began.

From a tender age, live music and sing-alongs were a family affair. Chad’s uncles and cousins founded the old-time Rock-n-Roll group "The Chaotics" well known in the panhandle from the 1950’ into the 2000’s. Watching their performances and participating in family jams set the stage for his passion of performance. “The love and pure joy emanating in the audience and on the faces left a lasting impression of the power of music and song. No matter the family or worldly dynamics, music always brought us together” says Chad. These experiences along with encouragement from family and friends to follow his dream provided Chad the confidence and work ethic ultimately resulting in opportunities and accolades such as performing opera roles at Florida State University, sharing the stage with national recording acts and composing and producing commercials for television and radio including the soundtrack composition for the Emmy-award winning informational film ‘Exploration Florida.

Although humbled and grateful for these opportunities and awards, Chad Spikes wasn't content. He yearned to express his thoughts and emotions through song, and thus began his journey as a songwriter.
