“A Song for Alexus” written by Chad Spikes is a dedication to his niece whom he adopted because of losing his sister to homicide. With lyrics like “Your little hand in my hand melted my heart every time…I gave all of me not thinking twice… , “I wouldn’t change anything I did to have you hear with me, faithfully”, capture the essence of the myriad of thoughts that race through our minds the first time we hold an infant whose precious innocent life is now in our hands.
