Marty Falle Kentucky Bluestar
Release Date: March 8, 2023

Producer Jonathan Yudkin describes the album as “slick and contemporary but with all the elements of bluegrass,” and he commends Falle’s decision to delve further into the genre. “Marty has found his place and taken it a step further,” praises Yudkin, adding, “He embodies the spirit of bluegrass, yet he doesn’t write typical songs which brings a fresh presentation to this style of music.”

Bluegrass Today calls Falle "an artist well worth your attention." "The Bluegrass Standard" selected Falle for the cover (June 2023 Edition)

Diversity defines the album. Starting with the sweet-sounding, “Kentucky Blue Star,” the tempo switches gears with “Daytona,” a double-time, rock-a-billy song about the thrill of a NASCAR race.

In “Ridin’” as well as “God Help this Workin’ Man,” – both songs about life on the road – the blend of instruments echoes the roar of an 18-wheeler barreling down the highway, while “Cherokee,” a ballad that starts with a guitar rake, slowly delivers a mournful tale about the Trail of Tears.

5/5/2023 - “Kentucky Bluestar” single was a top 10 hit, debuting @ #6 on The Bluegrass Today Singles Chart.

6/1/2023 - Falle selected for cover of The Bluegrass Standard Magazine

8/1/2023 - “Kentucky Bluestar reached #1 on the Bluegrass Jamboree Top 100.

1/10/2024 - "Ridin'" makes Top 10 Jerry Eicher's Ol' Hippie Bluegrass Show.

“Kentucky Bluestar” – Written in early 2023 after hiking on my farm in Kentucky. We saw a field of wildflowers with striking blue colors. This sparked the song for me. Became a top 10 hit - Marty Falle

2. Daytona (3:34)

“Daytona” – Written in my pick-up truck after going to the Daytona 500. I am a big NASCAR fan and it is one of those events best experienced live. I brought it to Nashville late in the Kentucky Bluegrass Sessions. Kim Parent was in the studio with me. She was the long-time back-up singer with Brooks and Dunn. Her talent is all over the vocals - Marty Falle

3. Ridin’(5:31)

Songwriter, Publishing & PRO: Words and Music by Marty Falle/ Country Cool Music Nashville and ASCAP/ ISRC Code - TCAGY2302466/ Single Release Date: March 8, 2023

My favorite track on the record. The song is about me, and life challenges I was facing with cancer, workload, and travel. Normally indefatigable, I felt wounded, but kept pushing, not understanding what kept me upright through the storm. - Marty Falle

“Cherokee” – The trail of tears is one of the more tragic stories in American History. My wife is half Cherokee and I experience that heritage with her. My late Father took me to Indian Guides as a child on Tuesday nights. The name I was given was “Rising Sun”, which I used in the song - Marty Falle

Songwriter, Publishing & PRO: Words and Music by Marty Falle/ Country Cool Music Nashville and ASCAP/ ISRC Code - TCAGY2302513/ Single Release Date: March 8, 2023

“Make it to Macon” – I performed a country rock version of this live for European TV at SIR Studios in Nashville. However, the song was always meant for Bluegrass, so I brought it in for the Kentucky Bluestar sessions. The song was actually in the making for many years. I have done so much travel to Atlanta and other places in the Southeast. Macon was always a great spot to sleep. My wife would ask how I am doing and I would say “If I can make it to Macon, I will be OK”. Add the great Marty Slayton from George Strait on vocals. Here’s your song - Marty Falle

About Marty Falle:

History and heritage naturally go hand in hand, and the desire to preserve the former is generally maintained by preserving the latter. Singer, songwriter and musician Marty Falle knows that all too well. His connection to the traditional music of Appalachia was spawned from spending much of his time after graduating from college living in Kentucky, the place where bluegrass was born. Now living on a farm in Eastern Kentucky, he’s thoroughly absorbed the music, culture and influences of that storied region, and in the process, made them his own.

Falle’s producer, Grammy winner Jonathan Yudkin, sums it up succinctly. “Marty seeks stories, history, legends, and paths in creativity… His fresh sound comes from the fact that he is not trying to emulate bluegrass bands of the past or present. Instead, he is creating his songs out of his love of music, unfettered by the influence of other artists. That’s what I enjoy the most about working with him. His songs are always unpredictable and surprising…”

That, then, is the essence of an artist who’s not only impacted by history and heritage, but one who effectively moves those foundations forward as well. He’s an Appalachian original and a dedicated contributor to Americana music in general.
