Dan Doiron - Livin' Centre Stage
The new album will be on the Earwig Music label. Label CEO Michael Frank met Dan in Halifax in 2016 when he and Dan judged the East Coast Blues Society Blues Challenge, and again in 2017 when the Dan Doiron Band competed in the same contest and won. In the interim between the two events, Dan wrote his cool song inspired by Michael's management client, Mississippi Delta blues guitar legend Honeyboy Edwards' hoping freight trains, so of course Dan and Michael hit it off. In December 2017 Michael signed Dan for artist management and distribution of Dan's first US release.
Michael has this to say about Dan: "Dan is a dynamic artist with a fiery axe, a finely honed songwriting and arranging sensibility, a passionate singer, and a total delight to work with. He is a human dynamo, a total pro as a musician, with a great attitude and drive. He takes the bull by the horns to move his career forward, continually implementing creative promotional and gig concepts in a variety of settings. Dan is a welcome addition to the Earwig Music Company artist family."
Critical Acclaim
In April 2011 Dan stepped out as a solo recording artist, and immediately joined the top tier of regional guitar players, earning an East Coast Music Award (ECMA) nomination and Music Nova Scotia nomination for his debut CD, Even My Guitar Is In Love With You.
Bob Mersereau, CBC Producer called Dan’s sophomore album, From Deep Inside, released in May 2013, “a… confident, smokin' set full of hot leads, a variety of styles, and best of all, lots of cliche-free originals. Doiron plays it full of energy, moving in and out of funk, rock, and scorching blues ballads.” This album was also nominated for a 2013 Music Nova Scotia award for Blues album of the Year, and 2014 East Coast Music Award for Blues Recording of the Year.
{Dan Doiron Band’s 2014 release} 'Even My Guitar Is In Love With You' and judging by the results of the performance, the man playing the guitar is in love with the music he is playing - lyrical and confident with firm vision - A wonderful musical conversation.”
- Glenn Meisner- CBC Producer
"With his 2015 release 'Stand Back I Don't Know How Loud This Thing Gets...' Nova Scotia's Dan Doiron serves up a blistering, funky, and melodic cocktail that proves once again, what Eastern Canada already knows - he is a Rockin' Blues force to be reckoned with!"
- Brent Morrison, Host - The Rockin' Blues Show
