THE YEAR WE WERE INSANE album release date: 3/23/2020
Written and recorded at my home in Telluride, Colorado. It's my first album that was not recorded in a professional studio. I played all the instruments, programmed the drums, produced and mixed by me.

1. TOO BIG TO FAIL (03:25)
Written before Trump was in office. It's not about Trump, but a composite of various politicians and big business owners.

2. TEACH THE WORLD (03:00)
My modified cover of the wonderful song, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." I added a rock riff to the intro and re-intro. I also rearranged the verses and added one original line.

I wrote this about a man, husband and father who was so desparate after being 'down on his luck' he resorted to shoplifting food for his family and was caught in the act.

Whether or not you believe in reincarnation... This song advises that we should live our lives according to the Golden Rule because we might come back... as ourselves!

5. DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT (03:32)
After attending a music business seminar where the speaker kept saying, "Done is better than perfect!" I went home and wrote this song.

I wrote this after attending a seminar on human awareness/interaction. The basic idea is that we are literally all the same on the inside.

I wrote this about a friend of my wife's... a single mom who was struggling with raising her teenage son.

LUCKY DOUG FERGUS BIOGRAPHY
In addition to being a bassist, vocalist, lyricist, songwriter, comedian and good cook, Doug is an accomplished tambourine sharpener. 
Doug is driven to create music that is quirky, fun, thought-provoking, and in some way inspiring. 
He has been inspired by some of his favorite comedians and musicians: Jonathan Winters, George Carlin, Steve Martin, Robin Williams, the Talking Heads, Devo, Weird Al Yankovic, Warren Zevon, Primus and Frank Zappa.

Doug began his music career in 1982 with the Los Angeles band, Split Image and was signed to Allied Artists Records.
In 2012 his band Naked in Public opened for Cyndi Lauper at the Britt Festival in Oregon. 
Most of his songs were recorded and produced by legendary producer Sylvia Massy (Red Hot Chile Peppers, Prince, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash). 

His songs with his bands Naked in Public, Lucky Doug and the Stinkbugs and Lucky Doug Fergus can be found on nearly all digital platforms including Pandora, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and have been played on Sirius XM and hundreds of college radio stations across Canada and the US. 

Doug loves puppy dogs, bubble baths, and long candle lit walks on the beach. He believes his role in life is to share his joy for living and his “If life hands you a lemon, make lemonade” outlook. Oh, and he’d like to thank Gosh.
