Biography
Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers – This merry crew of Nashville musicians play a rollicking mix of piratical sing-alongs, historical rave-ups, Afro-Cuban tinged ballads, Cajun sea shanties, and bluesy Irish jigs, transforming festivals, civic centers, and nightclubs into bustling seaside taverns at the turn of the seventeenth century.
Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers travel the world entertaining crowds of all ages. They’ve released five CD’s with a sixth to be completed in late 2018. Their previous albums are Pirate Party” is an uptempo mix of sea shanties, rousing fiddle songs, and four of their own rowdy sing-alongs; "The World is Ablaze, mixing styles from around the world; “The Blue Buccaneer – Songs Inspired by the Golden Age of Pirates,” a collection of original tunes conjuring life at seas; “Yo Ho Ho, A Pirate’s Christmas,” delightfully mixing yuletide and pirate fun; and their latest (and first aimed at children) “If You Want to be a Pirate: Songs for Young Buccaneers”.
Mason’s other recordings include another holiday treat, the instrumental CD “A Slide Guitar Christmas,” and "Salmagundi: A Tom Mason Anthology," a collection of his earlier recordings.
In their live performances, they play with the fervor of the Pogues and the sensitivity of the Buena Vista Social Club at such gatherings as the Minnesota State Fair, The Pilgrimage Festival in Tennessee, England’s Beverley Folk Festival, and Australia's Port Fairy Folk Festival.
