Biography
Craig Havighurst: Writer-Jounalist with Music City Roots Nasvhille:
Tim Carter represents two vital traditions of the Appalachia region that raised him. One is folk and bluegrass directly from the old America. The other is the equally valuable tradition of spiking those genres with contemporary ideas, hearty grooves, instrumental improvisation and a happy Southern good time. He’s a fantastic singer and banjo player, and he’s a resilient, determined artist as recent years have proven.
Tim Carter is a banjo / guitarist who writes and performs worldwide... growing up in North Carolina, the rich musical heritage of the Carter Family runs deep in Tim's veins.
One person describes Tim's banjo style as 'Rain running through the trees'... progressive but with traditional roots...
Spending the last 30 years with his brother Danny as the Carter Brothers, they released several records, the last, 'The Road to Roosky' on Compass Records gained international attention... the brothers created their own brand of blues rock grass, playing world wide, with much success... Tim continues that style of playing.. true blues roots music, occasionally playing bluegrass to show that he is from NC, but the blues is the basis of what he does.
Besides playing shows with the Tim Carter Band he is the banjo player with the legendary Hayseed Dixie..
Surrounding Tim in the Tim Carter Band are of some of the most accomplished players in the world.. Drummer Dann Sherrill, Bassist Dave Roe and Guitarist Mike McAdam...
