Biography
The Mercies began as a collaboration between myself (singer-songwriter and guitarist Karen Whitey) and bassist Kim Naddeo. In 2008, we recorded and released a self-titled EP that included acoustic arrangements of four original songs.
Later that year, I won honorable mention for "Missing You in Memphis" in the American Songwriter Magazine Lyric Contest, which led to a full-page interview featuring The Mercies in the May/June issue of American Songwriter.
It was an eventful year, but that was just the beginning!
The Mercies began working on the album "Save Me" with producer/songwriter/musician Phil Madeira in Nashville. The album was finished in 2009, but its release was delayed when we dissolved our musical partnership.
After a year-long break, I released the album "Save Me" on November 13, 2011. Currently, I'm performing as a solo artist and recording a forthcoming album to be released in March 2012.
The album Save Me features nine original songs and an energetic cover of George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord." The album was recorded and produced by Phil Madeira. For more information, visit The Mercies website.
