Her keen eye and ear for detail shape the 12 charming, retro-modern songs on her debut CD, BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN: THE SONGS.
Fans of Great American Songbook-style lyrics, upbeat melodies and fine instrumentation will find much to love here, from Nelson Riddle era, Sinatra-inspired jazz tunes to indie folk, cabaret waltz, blues and AAA.
HOBOKEN's jazzy title track and the country Americana song UH-HUH are songwriting contest winners.
BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN: THE SONGS also soundtracks Glassman's novel-with songs, BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN: a modern love story and music-driven mystery in Frank Sinatra's hometown of Hoboken, NJ.
How did a journalist become a performing songwriter/novelist?
Sharon started writing songs to complement her topical humor essays for radio stations like WFUV.
During this time, she rode the ferry to Hoboken, New Jersey from lower Manhattan.
The Art Deco-looking ferry terminal sparked her idea for a novel that mixed music, love and mystery.
Sharon wrote the songs for BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN in Northern Colorado, where she now lives.
She performs the songs in concert, and as "novel" live performances of chapters and songs.
The positive response to BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN's songs adds to Sharon's delight in creating them.
"My novel sings," she says, with a smile. "My songs entertain the ear, the funny-bone and the heart."

Praise for BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN:
Sharon Glassman's Blame It On Hoboken CD has something for every musical taste: Folk, Americana, a touch of jazz & blues too. The songs are bouncy, lighthearted fun! Check out the title track: a paean to Sinatra's hometown, which has quickly become a favorite in Nowheresville." - Joltin Joe Pszonek, Radio Nowhere, WMSC-FM, Upper Montclair, NJ
“Take a hunk of good humor, a dash of literate and witty wordplay & even a bit of Brooklyn -- and cover the whole concoction with love. Sharon Glassman’s songs and stories are always a treat, & they've made me a committed groupie.” – Dallas Heltzell
“I fell in love with you and your music. The whole thing is exciting. I was getting tingles up and down my spine.” Philip Coggon, KRFC-FM
“Being a former resident of Hoboken, I know that much can be blamed on that town: brown water, grey air, lack of parking, and Mafioso landlords. Sharon Glassman, in her most recent collection of unique and tantalizing tunes has found another, more important issue for which to fault the Garden State metropolis: love in many of its guises and facets.” – Mike T. Lewis of the Twangtown Paramours
"…fabulous... Nothing better than getting lost in a good book or song! Write On.” - Trish Lewis, The Eclectic Chair
