Southland Romeo's unique sound is defined by injecting the dynamic abilities of an electric fiddle into contemporary rock and roll. The concept and first compositions of the band were created by frontman Rob Mineo in early 2011. Mineo can best be described as a lead guitar player who happens to play the violin. Rob moved to Nashville in the summer of 2009, and spent his first two years paying his dues, playing in honky-tonks and rock clubs all over of the Music City scene. After coming off of a summer tour in 2010, it wasn't long before Rob became tired of playing the "same old set" with every band in town. To overcome this problem, he decided to create his own Nashville project with a twist. Teaming up with highly accredited, veteran drummer, Philip Tremblay, the vision for Southland Romeo began to form. The duo began to assemble an all star cast of musicians whom they had met in their time working as sessions players. Combining Tremblay's "in your face" rhythmic creations with Mineo's stylish vocal and violin melodies, the powerhouse five piece ensemble was completed by adding bass, keys, and electric guitar. Smooth melodies and groove driven rhythms combine to define the distinct flavor that is Southland Romeo's sound.
