Biography
Rachel was raised on the banks of the Hawkesbury River where it trickles out of the Blue Mountains, North West of Sydney, Australia. Her expressively textured voice has a slightly damaged, world-weary edge. Her grandparents were orchardists who worked the land with horses rather than machinery. As a teenager, she followed her grandfather like a shadow learning from him the gentle method of horse handling, and was taught to ride by her eighty year old grandmother.
The compelling nature of Rachel’s lyrics has been recognized by the ASA Songwriting Competition, in which her songs were shortlisted in both 2009 and 2012, and with 'Runner-Up Finalist’ status in the 2012 Song Of The Year competition, with “Hell for Leather” and was Semi-finalist in the same competition in 2013 with her song, Little Stone's Throw. She was a top three finalist in her state for Best New Country Music Talent in 2012 and again in 2013.
Rachel is currently working on a full length album for release in January 2015.
