Biography

Tempered Mental, a Kuala Lumpur based Malaysian band, was formed in the year 2002. Made up of three technically astute members, Tempered Mental are; Melina William (vocals/bass), Jimmy Tan (drums), and Jack Lian (guitars). Tempered Mental believes in a constantly evolving brand of eclectic rock – sounding anywhere between progressive to funk – hence simplifying their genre as: Rock. With such vast impressions and interpretations on music, each member brings different musical influences into the band thus creating a unique blend of their own.

In the year 2004, Tempered Mental recorded a 5-track EP entitled, “Honestly” with their single “Honestly” being well received by Hitz.FM’s, “Malaysian English Top 10” (Hitz.FM is Malaysia’s No:1 Hit Station). Tempered Mental gained further recognition by winning the award for “Top 10 Most Downloaded Song” on MusicCanteen.com.

Making numerous appearances on broadcast and print media, as well as being well received and appreciated by attendees of their performances, the year 2007 brought about their much anticipated album (LP) entitled, “The View from Here” (produced by Greg Henderson, Melina William and Tempered Mental). Tempered Mental is currently focused on promoting their debut album with hopes of performing in un-tapped venues for recognition of their love for music.

Besides the Malaysian Klang Valley and regional music scenes, Tempered Mental has performed at ‘Baybeats Music Festival’ in Singapore, ‘Heineken Phat Fest’ in Thailand (Bangkok), and ‘Rock The World’ in Malaysia.
