Biography
Garrett Newton is an exceptional young banjo player. Not only can he play banjo, he can talk banjo with the best. He is presently fronting his own band, the Garrett Newton Band. He has played on stage with national artists such as Marty Raybon, Kenny Ingram, Ben Greene, Steve Dilling, and James King and toured with Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road on their "Country Grass" tour.
He is endorsed by Yates and Mitch banjo and plays the "Earl Scruggs" style. The last release, also on Pinecastle Records was a project entitled “Young Heart, Old Soul” which included several bluegrass instrumentals as well as an original song written by Garrett. Theproject charted multiple hit songs, including landing on the National Bluegrass Unlimited Chart.
Although Garrett started bluegrass at a young age, his ability of playing would lead you to think he is much older. He can talk about the history of bluegrass in detail with anyone. Just ask Del McCoury or Ricky Skaggs about conversation they have held back stage with a young Garrett Newton. They will tell you he is a young kid with the bluegrass mind of an older man.
We are so excited to share this next album with you, "Bluegrass Barn," from Garrett and his fantastic band. It's one you will want to listen to time and again.
