Sometimes the pressure to deliver a new holiday recording can be intense. Artists often are given the daunting task of coming up with a collection of songs, record them in the middle of the heat of summer and somehow try to keep the vibe of the holidays present throughout the recordings. Luckily, this wasn’t the case for Spechlis (pronounced "speechless"). In almost a surprise move, they release a new holiday EP that is sure to become a fan favorite this season. Industry professionals are already calling this the freshest seasonal project they’ve heard in years. Up On The Housetop on Sheyegirl Records finds Spechlis’ Sheyenne Rivers and Daniel Ericks once again taking a sometimes left turn approach to familiar favorites and new tracks.

“Jingle Bells” is one of the big surprises as it’s presented as a beautiful ballad. Sometimes the holidays aren’t joyful for some but there’s a sense of hope in this rendition. “O Holy Night” is presented a cappella letting the lyrics cut through without any distraction. “Baby It’s Cold Outside” sheds the more familiar over the top productions you’ve likely heard in the past and strips it down to a more intimate acoustic interpretation. The title cut, “Up On The Housetop” is a fun update to a familiar chorus with new verses from both Sheyenne and Daniel. The completely new track, “I Believe It’s Love”, takes an honest look at the most important thing we can give each other this holiday.

Nashville-based Spechlis describes their sound as an “Americana Pop Experience”. Their infectious harmonies and chemistry make them one to watch. Their debut album, From Here, is releasing spring 2017.
