Biography
Why this name?
I chose the name skeeme_ to chat on Napster a long time ago. I was always upto something as far as music goes and always trying to build on the plot of any sound, whether it be my own music or a mixtape. I later found out what that line after the word skeeme was called and was like, "Perfect, that's Me!" So, skeeme underscore basically translates to build high upon a soundscape created from the ground up.
Do you play live?
This band only has one member at this time, but I am looking forward to honing a band that plays my music and ideas live for a film score or, maybe the Grammies?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet doesn't really change the industry, in my opinion, it adds to it. Hopefully, people don't let the internet keep them from going to have that same experience I used to have as a young gun going to various record shops to buy music. Hell, I still go to the store and dig in the crates, just not as often as I used to. The internet makes it a lot easier to search and find stores that have the rare joints on vinyl, but I still call on my cell to have the human go look and see if they have Ultramag's original "Speed of Thought" 12"! Not to mention, get off my **** and go pick it up if they do have it, lol.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, I would sign on the dotted line for the proper deal. I just won't sign to produce one rap group or R&B singer for a long term or nothing like that. I have a kalidiscope of sounds and jams to work from and I don't work with the same type of artists all the time. Too many genres to pick and choose to remain in and too much music to be able to have an experience with. I think it's sad to limit yourself to one sound and one label. Anything is possible...
Band History:
Sorry I don't have photos yet, but I will keep you all posted. I've been around locally for years. Formally known as d/p LOVV (found out what d/p meant to the porn industry...lol) My crew was Born Rugged (D.T.E.) and consisted of two vocalists (Carl Lee Banks and Thomas Lockhart) and the d.j./ Producer/Beat Maestro (all three of us.) Tragically, we lost Carl October 31, 1993 to senseless crime. Thomas and I continued to rep the crew, but couldn't seem to keep on with the pressure. So, Thomas moved on to other things and so did I. There's more to tell, but I will say them to anyone that interested a little later.
Your influences?
I had many influences for the music I've done over the years, and a lot of them are from the golden age of Hip Hop like Eric B & Rakim, Bomb Squad, Sir Jinx, DJ Pooh, of course Dr. Dre, and that's just to name a few. I also grew up with a lot of sounds from Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, LaFace and the Deele, Prince, James Brown, and so on. These artists continue to influences Me to this day and always will.
Favorite spot?
I haven't been much of anywhere, but I did visit Los Angeles in '95 and I will never forget it.
Equipment used:
I used Roland music workstations, Ensoniq ASR, my turntables, DAT machine, CD recorder and my computer to compress and broaden the sounds (mastering). I believe in just raw talent, It's not what you use, it's how you use what you have.
Anything else...?
Well, holla at a brotha and let Me know how you feel about these tracks. There's more on the way so please stay tuned because it only gets better from here!

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
