Rockabilly Holiday Cover of "Run Rudolph Run"
Award-winning songwriter R.X."Bob"Bertoldi's rockabilly rendition of the Holiday Classic "Run Rudolph Run" is guaranteed to liven up any holiday gathering, as it will make folks want to get up and boogie, and then play it all over again. Strong support on drums from Bob's older son Luca, and from acclaimed Seattle producer Johnny Sangster on the Telecaster make this holiday cover all the more festive and enjoyable for listeners.

Sleepwalking
Award-winning Seattle songwriter R.X. “Bob” Bertoldi’s latest single is a dynamic, unvarnished and largely solo acoustic effort. The fresh track reads and sounds like a heartfelt, wistful acknowledgement of the protagonist’s inability to properly grieve the early loss of his father, and the years of flawed thinking and poor decision making that followed. The self-isolation, delusions, and pleasure seeking to numb the pain referenced in the lyrics only appear to have compounded the initial woes: “I raced down the late night highways / guaranteed to lead nowhere / I kept dreaming I might find some kind / of light there I could share / I was sleepwalking / sleepwalking through the dark night”. While the singer expresses remorse here, the accent falls squarely on gratitude for his wife, as he states unequivocally that, “Without you here by my side / Lord knows where I might be / Probably sleepwalking / through the dark night”.

Whether the stretch of self-confessed unawareness is autobiographical or not, Bertoldi himself clearly woke up on the right side of songwriting. He has achieved notable radio success. Bob’s “Black Coffee in the Mornin’” was played on SiriusXM’s Coffeehouse a few times weekly for nearly five years running, and his cover of the Faces’ classic “Ooh La La” was also spun on the same station’s “Covers” program twice weekly for a few years running. Bertoldi’s last album Tracks in Perspective (2019) garnered strong non-commercial radio support, even breaking the AMA Radio Chart’s Top 100 a couple of times during its 4-months-plus-long stay, with 11 of the album’s 12 songs receiving spins. Bob’s songs have also earned top honors in the John Lennon Song Contest, and in just the past two years, the Indie-International and the Great American Song Contests (GASC). Of his First Place Winner for the Folk/American category, GASC judges praised his song “Something Good” for its “original and emotionally compelling lyrical imagery and solidly devised melodic structure.”
