Few bands are as appropriately named as Red Hot Chili Peppers. Since their inception, the band’s music has been a spicy stew of rock, funk, psychedelia, and punk. This distinct mixture has allowed the Peppers to continually sound fresh, especially as musical trends rise and fall. Powered by Flea’s taut and popping bass lines, the band infuses their music with a candid humanity which has been informed as much by hardship as by good living. Perhaps it is this emotional nakedness (so to speak) that allows the Peppers’ to continually connect with fans the world over.
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ music and concerts burst with passion, energy, and soul. So does The Bluegrass Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers. As exciting as the Peppers’ musical attack is, the bluegrass musicians on this album keep up note for note. The city-hardened experiences of “By the Way” and “Californication” are given a chance to breath in some rural air. With its mixture of passionate vocals and inventive banjo, mandolin, and guitar picking, The Bluegrass Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers will knock you down.
