Biography

The vocal ministry of Monty Jackson was formed early in the context of a familial setting. He spent years touring with regional and world renowned gospel and contemporary Christian music groups. The earliest of them was the gospel group, Heritage Singers. During this time he ministered on the nationally syndicated TBN program entitled Keep on Singing. Not long after in 1985, he produced his debut solo project, Through Your Eyes, which won an Angel Award for best inspirational album of the year. Monty’s next endeavor was to co-found the southern gospel quartet, Reunion. This group was produced by the multi-Grammy Award Winner, Lari Goss.

In the summer of 1990, Monty founded the Jackson Family music ministry. They signed with Command Records and were distributed worldwide by Word and Epic records. The group consisted of Monty and his siblings: Matthan, Marla, Maury, Monica and Micole. The members of the Jackson Family were presenters at the 1990 nationally televised Stellar Awards show and performed at the Dove Awards pre-show in the same year. From 1990-1993, the Jackson Family were the principal artists and the worship leaders at the annual conferences for professional athletes hosted by Athletes International Ministries. During this same time period, the Jackson Family ministered with Mike Barbers Prison Ministry in each prison throughout the state of Texas and also in Attica, NY. The Jackson Family has appeared several times on BET’s gospel programming, Australia’s Today Show, 3ABN’s Carter Report and TBN’s Praise the Lord program.

Throughout Monty’s ministry, he has taken on many leadership roles. He is a gifted singer, composer, arranger, record producer and audio engineer. He was the Executive Vice President and founder of the record company INSYNC Christian Music. He has performed with, produced and/or arranged for many artists which include Grammy and Dove Award winner CeCe Winans, Grammy Award winner Daniel Winans, Dove & Stellar Award winner Beau Williams and Motown’s 1980’s sensations the Debarge Family. Monty has performed with a variety of contemporary artists such as Whiteheart, Clifton Davis, Steven Curtis Chapman, and David Meece, as well as gospel music great Andre’ Crouch and R&B sensation Brian McKnight. Monty has also written songs that have been in the top of the billboard charts. Monty has toured extensively throughout the USA ministering several times at the Crystal Cathedral. He has also toured Canada and the continents of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, the South Pacific Islands and the Caribbean. Monty has been involved in Mission work in seven different European countries and Papua, New Guinea. He says, “Out of all the places I’ve performed no experience compares to singing an American spiritual on the Sea of Galilee.”

Monty is a graduate of Bakey Music Conservatory, in vocal performance. In addition, he earned a “Certificate in Worship Studies” from IWI (Integrity Worship Institute). He has served as a Worship and Arts Pastor for over twelve years ecumenically. In July, of 2009 a new CD release featuring artist such as Monty and the Jackson Family, Patti Labelle, BEBE & CECE Winans, Crystal Lewis, Shirley Miller to name a few, join together to continue bring awareness to the Aids epidemic. In America every year, more than 56,000 Americans contract HIV. All proceeds from this CD project entitled “Faith, Love & Unity” go to help this need. Monty’s second Solo project entitled Prayers, Promises, & Praises was released in 2011 this project was recorded in his MJ studio and is an ecumenical offering. Monty Jackson Christmas the third solo release is full of inspiring songs that capture the meaningful moments we need every year at Christmas." Monty resides in Southwestern IL. along with his wife Patti and their two children, Christian and Cetera.
