Biography
Masa Takumi is a GRAMMY®-nominated multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer with more than 40 songs that have charted in Japan’s Top 10 Charts, and a new album – Heritage -- releasing via Domo Records in 2020.

Masa’s recording debut was as a drummer for the rock band Siren, signed to BMG Japan in 2000. After the group disbanded, he began working as a full-time composer and producer. In Asia, he soon found success composing chart-topping hits for major artists, including a track by Da Pump that has garnered 200 million views on YouTube; in fact, his work (as MASAT) contributed to DA PUMP’s Excellence Album Award win for the single “P.A.R.T.Y ” at the 61st Japan Record Awards. Additional career highlights include contributions to an album by Exile that sold over 2 million copies worldwide, his work on the AAA’s single “Call”, which won the Excellence Album Award at the 53rd Japan Record Awards, and music for Japanese animation soundtracks, including “Claymore” and “Witchcraft.”

Crossing the pond to reside in California, Masa received a GRAMMY® Award nomination in 2014 for his guitar and keyboard work on “Reggae Connection,” an album produced by legendary reggae musicians Sly & Robbie. In recent years, he has impacted the U.S. market working with and producing several major American artists, including rock vocalist Eric Martin and legendary drummer Terry Bozzio. He composed “Let’s Make A Video” by YouTube star Poppy, and “Reflection” for the Trey Songz album 11, a track that hit No. 1 on the iTunes R&B chart.

In 2016, Masa made his solo debut with the album “Stars Falling,” for which he composed and performed all the instruments. A year later, he released the album “Deep Down,” which won both Akademia Music Awards and Global Music Awards. His artistic music video for “Deep Down” garnered a nomination at the 2018 Hollywood Music In Media Awards.

Masa is also an accomplished magician and a member of the world-famous Magic Castle, an exclusive, private club in Hollywood, California.
