Biography
Maddie Logan Bio

Music has always been important to fifteen-year old Maddie Logan. Inspired by many different styles of music, she says that what has drawn her to Country Music are the real-life stories that the songs portray. “I love country music because the songs tell stories about love and family”, she says. “There are lyrics in a country song that you won’t hear in other genres.”

Maddie grew up in California and started performing early in life. At three, she became involved in competitive figure skating. Training, performing and competing at such a young age prepared her well for a future in the music industry. “Figure skating is a very challenging sport. I learned early on how to combine difficult skills with artistry all while putting on a good show for the audience. It was fun for me because I loved it.”

Maddie is now applying that determination to pursuing her passion – music. She smiles when she speaks of her earliest musical performances. “My mom says that when I was only a toddler, I would lay out my stuffed animals and perform for them.” That passion for performing continued as Maddie grew older. “I started performing in musical theatre when I was six,” she says. “I wanted to perform on stage so badly that I walked into a community theatre near my home and tried to sign myself up for their theatre program! My Mom was reluctant for me to do the whole acting/singing thing so the director had to help me talk her into it,” she recalls. She was soon landing leading roles and even doing solo performances with a prestigious Los Angeles Orchestra.

Her venue of performance changed a bit as she developed her talents. At eight she was accepted into a highly regarded performing arts program in Los Angeles. She began training as a solo performer in pop and country music. This led to stage appearances at such Los Angeles hotspots as Whisky A Go Go, The House Of Blues, and the Roxy. It was also around this time that she first began writing and recording her original songs.

As much exposure as she was getting in Southern California, she felt her heart tugging her in an eastward direction - Nashville. When she was ten years old, Maddie caught her first CMA Awards show on television. She says she will never forget the impact that had on her life. Soon after, she got her first guitar. Inspired, she practiced for hours every day after school and began penning her own country songs. “I loved California, but I was secretly dreaming about moving to Nashville and becoming a country singer-songwriter.”

At first, Maddie’s parents were reluctant for her to change genres. They tried developing her country music career in Los Angeles, but were repeatedly told they needed to be in Nashville. At age thirteen, Maddie made her first visit to Music City. In the spring of 2013, she made two more trips, each time staying a little longer. At this point, there was no doubt in Maddie Logan’s mind where she wanted to be. In July of 2013 her parents made the huge decision to relocate to Tennessee so that she could pursue her dream. Maddie says she fell in love with Music City immediately. “Nashville is incredible and I love it here!” There are so many amazingly talented people and different musical influences.” She went on to say, “Everyone is so friendly and supportive of one another. It’s more than I ever dreamed it would be.”

She says there is something about a song’s three minutes of magic that totally captivates her and no matter what might be happening on a given day, a song can take her to another place. “I could be having a terrible day, and everything could be falling apart. Then, I can hear one great song and everything else melts away. Music has always been there for me, even when people haven’t.”

Maddie Logan is quickly developing her talents as a songwriter. “I’ve been writing since I was about nine years old,” she says. At age twelve she was offered a job writing songs by a Grammy nominated producer. When asked about her methods of writing a song, she admits that it all varies. “There really isn’t a usual way I approach it. It’s so spontaneous. I can be having a conversation with somebody and get an idea, or, I could be standing in line at the airport.” She goes on to say, “Sometimes I come up with a melody or other times it might be a few words or a title. Inspiration never happens in the same way and that’s what I love about it.”

Music Row is quickly taking notice. The more people who meet and hear her, the bigger her bandwagon gets. With writing appointments with some of the top songwriters in town and recording sessions in the works, she is gearing up for what is looking like a busy 2014.
