Lin was born in Salford near Manchester.
A Loyal True Blue, Manchester City Football Club supporter
At 17 she joined the Wrens which was not destined to be a life long career.
From an early age Lin had realised that music was an important part of her life, as she listened intensely to vocal groups like The Beatles, The Hollies, The Everly Brothers, etc. Listening to the songs, Lin was playing close attention to vocal harmonies. Naturally able to pick out these harmonies by ear, Lin discovered that she could also impersonate vocalists. Lin was even known to be able to mimic Julie Andrews as The Sound Of Music & other musicals have become favourites over the years.
In the early seventies Lin settled in the South of England. Music still an important part of her life, she formed her first Band in 1978 called Paradox. This enabled Lin to gain her first live experience & discover that she had a strong voice performing rock music. Lyric writing had begun which quickly turned into songs that she performed with the band. These songs had been stored in her mind since her youth.
In the early eighties Lin formed another band called Captivated. This band helped her to progress further with her performing & songwriting skills. By now she had noticed that her voice had become much more mature & versatile, & so she could now sing most styles from rock to commercial pop.
In 1995 Lin formed a female vocal duo with Di Selby, called Voice2Voice. They established themselves singing popular covers with backing track accompaniment.
Voice2Voice have played all kinds of venues from pubs to clubs, & even cabaret in the South of England. Lin is still performing with Voice2Voice today although she also performs venues as a solo artist.
Lin's musical journey in life so far is reflected to this day within her songwriting. Musical ideas are created with the help of her keyboard player from the band Captivated, called Carol Leech. They have now become songwriting partners.
Ballads are a favourite because Karen Carpenter has always been a favourite female vocalist that has inspired her. Also a big fan of Dusty Springfield who herself had a versatile & wide vocal range. Lin now has a voice which has also developed into its own unique style.
Lin has her own recording studio called dabosstudio, where she is continuing to record her own songs & covers. Performing live Lin enjoys tremendously but she particulary loves the creation of demo recordings in a studio.
Now established as a solo artist with plenty of experience behind her, Lin Duffy has achieved her first goal of performing live at different venues.
Her ambition is to be successful in all of her musical endeavours & expand her popularity worldwide.
