Biography
Where I Belong is the culmination of a lifelong search for survival through establishing a sense of place and purpose. If Lauren’s life was a novel, many of these songs would serve as plot points, the twists and turns of an edgewalker. Where I Belong (#4) reflects an episode of soul-searching during difficult circumstances far away from home, learning lessons that resulted in a stronger sense of place and spirit.

El Dorado (#1) tells of the courage it takes to lead the life one wants and taking risks as you search for greener pastures. Travelin' Fool (#3) speaks to doing it while having fun and not looking back. And for Lauren, “El Dorado” (a mythical place where every road is lined with gold) really exists for her and, for now, is in Florida. Where I Belong, Blue Springs Swing, Rise ’n Shine, Pink Flamingos, Labor of Love and Florida Born and Bred—these are songs about aspects of her life in the sunshine state.

A Gatorbone Records Artist, Lauren’s sophomore release is a more sparsely produced CD. Lauren is the solo guitarist on the CD and showcases her exquisite playing, complemented by such talented musicians as Lis and Lon Williamson, Robert Bowlin, Doug Stock, Jason Thomas, Scott Vestal, Tracy Collins, T’ai Welch and Steady Joseph.

Lauren’s musical roots were first planted at the jam sessions in her Chicago-area childhood home with her Mom (accordion) and Dad (guitar). At times a loner, Lauren has explored her talents and stretched her boundaries, realizing some unique and insightful experiences along the way. Lauren swam in volcanic calderas, water-skied gator-infested rivers, repaired U-2 spy planes near the Yellow Sea while in the USAF, and worked in the dot-com tech wars of Silicon Valley. Yet what excites Lauren the most these days is stepping onto stages playing her own music.
