Biography
J.M. Kearns is a long-time singer-songwriter with an irrepressible performing style. Call it folk-blues-Americana, with potent lyrics. Elmore magazine says: "A bluesy flair, his voice perfect for the lyric and sound. It's easy to hear the influence of John Prine and Gram Parsons. Intelligence, humor and musicianship."
JM's songs have been called sardonic, haunted, hilarious, stormy, plaintive, stirring, eloquent, and honest. His lifelong ambition: to be a footnote to Dylan. He recently wrote and recorded a song that tells the story of Dylan's rise to fame, called "The Ballad of Bob Dylan". (Video on YouTube.)
While a grad student in Toronto, J.M. Kearns was bitten by the songwriting virus. That started him on a journey of many songs that took him to L.A., Nashville, and now Cape May, NJ, where he performs both solo and in the trio The Squares.
As an author, Kearns has had five books published since 2007, including the novel The Deep End.
