Biography
The Hugo Fernandez Quartet mainly perform
original "modern jazz" compositions, inspired by
the richness of the jazz legacy and the energy
of other genres such as pop/rock.
The Quartet groups together, prime jazz players from different geographical origins.

Hugo Fernandez guitar (Mexico), Ariel Bringuez saxophones (Cuba), Ander Garcia acoustic bass (Spain) and Mariano Steimberg drums (Argentina).


Tenor saxophonist Ariel Bringuez from Cuba (First prize winner of the International JOJAZZ Contest in performance and composition, member of David Murray's Latin BigBand). Mariano Steimberg drums from Argentina (prime drummer from Barcelona's jazz scene, Berklee Valencia Drums professor, has worked with Argentinean guitar legends Luis Salinas, Walter Malosetti).Ander
Garcia a very in demand bassist from Bilbao, Spain.

About Hugo:

Hugo Fernandez began touring since the age of 18
with Mexican pop artists.
He has led for many years his own band and jazz projects such as: Amerikanda, Cordelia, Parque
Mexico and as a sideman for jazz vocalists Celia
Mur and Magos Herrera (among others).

He has played in many Mexican and Spanish prestigious jazz festivals such as: Mexico's "Festival del Centro Historico", CNA "Festival Internacional de Guitarra", "Festival de Jazz de Madrid", "Festival Universidad de Sevilla" among others and jazz venues as: Zinco Jazz Club, Bogui Jazz, Snug Harbor, Jazz Corner etc...

In 1995 he moved to the U.S.A. to study music at
Berklee College of Music. In Boston he had the
opportunity to study with experienced teachers
such as: Jon Damian, Jamey Haddad, Ed Tomassi
and Jerry Bergonzi.
In 2003 he traveled to New Orleans where he studied his masters degree at the University of New Orleans attending classes by Steve Masakowski, Ellis Marsalis and Alvin Batiste among others.
In the summer of 2006, he moves to Madrid, Spain, where he actually lives and collaborates in diverse musical projects.
