This album occupies a unique position in Hank Snow’s long and illustrious career. The recordings were made specifically for radio airplay and were never commercially available. Many stations simply discarded the recordings after they aired. They remained largely forgotten until Thomas Gramuglia rescued them and placed them in the safe hands of engineer Aaron Dethrage, who brought the recordings up to twenty-first-century audio quality.

Tracks 4, 8, 12, and 15 include updated vocals by Hank's son Jimmie; track 16 is performed by Jimmie Snow

If you are a fan of classic Country, you know the name Hank Snow, and if you are a Hank Snow fan, you’ll recognize many of the song titles on this album. But you have never heard Hank or these songs the way you will hear them on this unique collection!

In 1949, Hank made the big move to Nashville, Tennessee, and began recording songs for RCA Victor. As was the case with many future stars, his big break came in 1950 when he was invited to play on The Grand Ole Opry, whose radio broadcasts were heard over much of the USA.

He quickly established a reputation as a singer and guitar player, noted for his flamboyant sequined stage outfits. He was also a prolific and successful songwriter, writing many of the songs heard on the 80 million albums that he sold over his long career.

It was a delightful surprise for Jimmie when he was contacted by Rex Allen Jr., who coordinated the production of this album. “I was so thrilled when I got the call from Rex to sing on the album with my
father,” said Jimmie. “He would’ve been over a hundred years old. It was quite a feeling to hear these songs forty-five years later and be in the room while the additions and the updates are being done in the studio.”

Hank Snow was one of country music's most gifted performers and has influenced several generations of musicians. He was elected to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1978 and was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1979. He was also recognized by the Nova Scotia Music Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1985. He passed away on December 20, 1999.
