Biography
Electric River are an energetic group fusing elements of punk into a melting pot of rock and pop influences. They have headlined many of London's finest venues such as The Barfly, The Water Rats, the Scala and played alongside 'The Pogues' Shane Macgowan at a recent aftershow party as well as selling out 600 capacity venues across Kent.

The core of Electric River was formed when Chris Aldis and Will Whisson both moved to Kent in 2003 from very different parts of the world. (Will from Singapore and Chris from London.) They met at a festival after only being in Kent for a matter of days and ever since then the writing partnership has continued.

Next to join the band is drummer Alex Mayland from Canterbury. At the age of just thirteen, his willingness, and determination to pick up his instrument and relentlessly master it, gave perfect reason to warrant his position in the band.

Chris “Sponge” Rogers was added to the band when his previous band split up. Chris Aldis had been to see Sponge's band perform a number of times and thought he was a great performer and vocalist so took the opportunity to get him on board as well as take on the task of learning bass.

Finally, Tom Rowe or “Rowedy” as he is known, started off as a roadie for the band hence edited name. He helped out wherever he could and at one of E.R.'s sell out shows at the Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury, a decision was made to incorporate him into the band as a percussionist. Ever since then he has gone from strength to strength and is now a big part of the band. Not only does he play percussion but he gets the crowd going and we consider him to be our version of “Bez” from the Happy Mondays.

Electric River are a band with a message, and just as importantly, a great live act. We don't want to preach to our fans, just let them know we share their concerns of living in the UK at the start of the new century.

At gigs we aim to include our audience as much as possible. No single person is treated as just a face in a crowd, but more as a part of the show. We owe everything to our fans and supporters and they are very much part of who we are
