Biography
Debut CD "CRAZY LOVE" available world-wide at fine digital stores everywhere !

It has been a long road for Dee, but like they say, good things take time. From growing up in Cuba, settling in Canada, reaching Top 11 on Canada’s top rated “Canadian Idol” to her very first solo CD “Crazy Love”, it has been a long and hard labour of love, but the hard work is paying off.

“Crazy Love” presents 10 mature songs that reflect the singer/songwriters ability to cross musical borders, while staying true to herself as an artist. “This record was a ton of fun to make,” says Dee. “We wanted to experiment with a few different styles, because I have always been influenced by all kinds of music from around the globe. We wanted to combine hip hop, R&B, jazz and even a little country, but do it in a way that would have general appeal.” The end result is an album with great hooks and melodies, something you can “sing along to”.

“Besides some of my own compositions, I had the fortune of working with some great songwriters,” she says. “They really bought into the concept and came up with some incredible songs. It was exciting and a real pleasure to bring those songs to life.”
Besides the 9 original songs, the album also features one cover, the Bart Howard written standard “Fly Me To The Moon”. “It’s not really a cover anymore,” laughs Dee. “We pretty much gave the song a complete overhaul. It is such a classy song that has been done by some of the best singers in the world. We didn’t just want to do a similar version like many of the others, but wanted to re-introduce this great song with a 2009 feel, while paying tribute to the writer and all the great singers that made it famous and a classic. I think we came up with a cool original arrangement that works, but I will let you be the judge.”

Dee grew up in Havana, Cuba surrounded by music. "For my family, singing was the way we could all come together,” Dee reminisces. “Every member in my family has a beautiful voice. "

She trained at the Conservatory of Music in Cuba, performed throughout the Island with a number of different bands and sang for Cuban President Fidel Castro by the age of 11. After performing at the International Music Festival "Quimera96 " at age 13 in Toluca-Metec, Mexico, she was invited to perform at Canadian venues and festivals, such as the world-renown Montreal Jazz Festival. By the time she reached age 16, Dee decided to dedicate her life to music (inspired by Cuban diva Celia Cruz) to the point where "I had to leave my family and country to take my career to a higher level".

She settled in Canada to pursue her dreams. She started her new life as a singer in Toronto, performing regularly with the Latin band Cassava, Hot Handle and recording as a featured vocalist on many independent CDs with various artists, such as Pedras da Rua. Word about her unique talents spread quickly and soon Dee was invited to perform at top Latin and Jazz venues in Toronto such as Lee's Palace, the Harbor Front Center, Havana Cafe and many others. Singing in Spanish, Portuguese and English, Dee developed her own musical style as a singer and composer.

In 2005, Dee started to work on a solo project that incorporates the success of her previous works and her appearance on Canada's top rated TV program, Canadian Idol, where she placed in the Top 11 and received many rave reviews from the judges, such as being described as "A World Class Jazz Singer" by Sass Jordan.

She has developed into an artist with a national and international career. The combination of original music, intelligent lyrics, superb vocal abilities and a dynamic stage presence make Dee an artist to both appreciate and watch out for. “Crazy Love”, the first full-length CD by Dee is another stepping stone in this artist’s growing career.
