POINT OF ROCKS, Maryland:
Known for his longtime role as guitarist and lead vocalist with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Darren Beachley explores musical routes both old and new on his latest album The Road Not Taken. Released on October 14 on Turnberry Records, the new album finds Beachley reacquainted with his first instrument - the Dobro - and revisiting songs he’s always wanted to record.

“As a big Eric Clapton fan, I first heard ‘Forever Man’ in the 80’s,” says Beachley. “It was this huge rock anthem, and I’ve always loved it. Of course, at that time, I never thought of recording it in an acoustic environment.”

In his son’s home studio during the early days of the pandemic, Beachley workshopped the songs that would become The Road Not Taken. “I knew I wanted to do some material that was more in the Americana vein,” Beachley continues. “My son Bryan and I were working in the studio and ‘Forever Man’ came to mind - but I didn’t know if we could give it the treatment it deserved.

With the talents of Scott Vestal on banjo, Curtis Vestal on bass, Josh Swift on drums, and Clay Hess on guitar, the song quickly came together - with one missing piece. “We liked what we had, but we all thought it needed something,” says Beachley,

“If you’re wanting to do something a little off the beaten path, who else would you call but Sam Bush?”

The end result is a fresh take on a classic rock anthem - highlighting Beachley’s soaring vocals and punctuated by Bush’s unmistakeable mandolin. “Sam added both mandolin and slide to the track and pulled everything together,” Beachley concludes. “I felt very blessed and honored to record with these folks on this track. I think it’s fun to listen to - it sure is fun to play!”

Forever Man is the latest single from Darren Beachley’s album The Road Not Taken, available now on streaming services worldwide. Interested radio programmers are invited to download the track from AirPlay Direct.
