Biography
Anna Elizabeth Laube (Lau like "how" and be like "to be") is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. Songs have been featured on NPR, BBC Radio, Spotify Curated Playlists, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, and XM/Sirius Satellite Radio. Laube's new album, Tree, debuted at #1 on the Euro Americana charts in October, 2016.
Laube has performed at numerous festivals including SXSW, The Monterey Blues Festival, Folk Alliance International, the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, and has toured internationally. She has also received national honors that led to a collaboration with Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones, Allman Bros.) on her song "Oh My! (Oh Me Oh Me Oh My)." The lead track from her most recent record, "Already There," was No. 6 on FolkDJ in Oct. 2015.
NPR describes her sound as "Intimate, heartfelt songs rooted in traditional Americana." Her expressive and versatile voice, high craft songwriting, and understated rootsy production are the constants in a collection that changes shades from folk to Americana, with hints of jazz, twang, blues and fingerpicking songwriter.
Laube has also lent her talents to events and projects benefiting Girls Rock Camp, Food Not Bombs, Porchlight, Inc., Second Harvest Food Bank, and the REACH-A-Child Foundation.
She grew up in Iowa City, IA, and Madison, WI, before spending a year in Belgium on a Rotary Scholarship and then attending college in Minnesota. After school, she moved to San Francisco and is now based in Seattle, WA, USA. She loves fresh air, trees, music, cats, yoga, meditation, and snuggles.
