Biography
Adam is an established face on the UK’s live music scene, having started playing in pubs and clubs across London when he was only 15.

He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist in The Mustangs, the UK’s most renowned young blues rock band. The group’s album Split Decision reached number 5 in the iTunes blues album chart and has confirmed the band’s status at the forefront of the British Blues scene.

Signed to the Blues Matters label – the UK’s largest blues record label – the band’s latest album Nothing Stays The Same has received ecstatic reviews from the press and public. Musician Magazine have called the band “Compulsory for hardcore british blues rock fans”.

Born in London, but raised via Singapore and the United States, Adam developed a love of music through his mother, Mary Apps, a renowned singer from the south coast English folk scene of the early 1960s. He played his first professional gig at 16, but went into journalism on leaving school, following in his father’s footsteps. Despite a love of writing, Adam left news reporting and music journalism to pursue his passion for music, playing in a number of bands that did the London/Camden scene in the 90s.

In 2001 he met blues harp player Derek Kingaby and formed the Mustangs, a band in which Adam could indulge his love of singing and playing the blues. The group signed to BluesMatters in 2006 and continue to make cutting edge blues records that draw upon the classic blues influences, but bring a fresh dynamic to them.

Adam's energy and charisma as a live performer in both band and solo settings has got audiences buzzing in venues as diverse as the Hackney Empire, the Marquee and some of the largest blues festivals throughout the UK. He has now performed over 1,000 gigs.

Adam's solo work is more reflective and draws upon influences as diverse as Dylan, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Richard Thompson and John Barry. He has released four solo albums of original material. The latest, Lost In The Cinema, draws on Adam’s blues and folk roots, and has been hailed as a “masterpiece in thoughtful, passionate songwriting craftsmanship” (songwriter.com)

Adam’s reputation and respect as a live performer led to him in 2006 being asked by record company Urban Voice UK to be head judge on a nationwide talent search. The competition, called Project Talent, lasted six months and visited every major city in the UK. The final was held at the IndigO2, and the whole competition was filmed for YouTube Television.

Adam has often returned to writing and has written three unpublished books, a collection of children’s stories and has written music pieces for The Independent newspaper and film articles for Screen International. His regular blog is a popular feature on his website.

When performing solo, adam draws upon his vast catalogue of songs, playing a mix of solo, mustangs and classic blues material. His concerts both with the band and alone, are a must-see for anyone who loves passionate, dynamic music.

Adam lives in South London with his two year old daughter, Lola.
