Biography

Matt Sharp played bass in Weezer on the first two Weezer records. He started the Rentals as a side project and eventually he broke off from Weezer and the Rentals became his main thing. Between Weezer and the Rentals, Matt spent the better part of the 90's working nonstop 24-7 and when the year 2000 hit, he decided to take a much-needed break. Cut to the year 2006 and Matt decides to put the band back together to do a few shows. He does, and it is wildly successful. Now he's doing it all again- this time with new music. The other founding member of the Rentals, Rachel Haden, daughter of Jazz great Charlie Haden, is back in the fold, playing bass AND doing vocals. (For all those keeping score, Rachel's sister Petra played violin on the first Rentals album and is now on the road with the Foo Fighters). Looking ahead to 2008, a new, full Rentals album is in the works. The NEW EP Last Little Life is in stores August 14 on Boompa Records. The songs were mixed by producer / engineer Joe Chiccarelli (The Shins, White Stripes).
