Biography
Discovered in 1997 by Paul Major of Parallel World Records while playing one of a myriad of multimedia solo acoustic shows, Jeff Saphin was subsequently signed up by said label owner. Saphin has been a staple oddity in the 3D and Virtual (internet) Music scenes ever since. With his debut and critically acclaimed release this in 1998, Saphin was then offered a development deal by Warner Bros. Records.
From day one Saphin has attempted and (usually) succeeded at stage innovation on the most basic of levels. The climate in town and the clubs at the time werent particularly theatrics friendly, Says Saphin, I remember one of my first solo gigs I arrived with TV screens and backdrops in tow. Although the audience seemed to Love it, the house unfortunately wasnt nearly as enthusiastic".

That didnt stop Saphin, what followed was another slew solo and full band multimedia shows at all of the usual stops along the way each time tweaking the show more and more, while building a wide based and growing global audience. Critical acceptance came from the likes of widely respected periodicals such as The Village Voice, who called Jeff, New Yorks new Jet boy.... and of his Songs, Whispy, Floating in a tin can music that really, really rocks!

I grew up on theatrical performance, theatre in Rock, on being lifted away from the heaviness of your life by the Semi-Gurus that Performers are meant to be". Not to sound too scientific about it but, Art and entertainment are emotional wormholes through which time compresses and problems are lessened. So performers are here to help you get to the other side of it or take you on a vividly scenic and memorable ride, return you intact, maybe even improved. I like my performers to be pretentious, character-esque and caricature-esque, the whole being real thing is not my thing, its just another pose, because if youre a performer, you automatically utilize pretension in some way whether you choose to or not, its an essential and natural tool of the trade. To say youre not being pretentious as a performer, is pretentious. So I am nothing less than that when I step up to the mic.

Saphin's current release "Saphin is Tim Essquare Starring in Time of the Signs"" is the first installment of an ongoing concept which follows the times and life of Tim Essquare, an inter-dimensional traveller sent to Earth in the year 2012 to find God. Saphin describes "Timmy" as "Mr. Spock meets Iggy Pop meetS Elf".

Saphin is amidst recording one of his next releases "A Star Called Earth" another concept album he says is loosely connected to Timmy, but "This is the other story".
