Biography
Guitarist Ronny North is fast becoming a local Southern California Guitar Hero. He plays his own signature brand of instrumental guitar rock. He regularly plays all over the U.S. and regularly shares stages with national acts. He has shared bills along side such artists as Yngwie Malmsteen, George Lynch, RATT, and Queensryche, among others.To top it off, Ronny's ability to play both electric and acoustic guitar in many styles beyond the obvious rock styles has made him an in demand session guitarist and sideman in LA.He has recorded with several major pop recording artists and has also played/recorded with many big name players such as Rikki Rocket (Poison), Phil Chen (Jeff Beck, Doors),Eric Singer (KISS,Alice Cooper), Keri Kelli (Alice Cooper), Gary Hoey,Robbie Crane (RATT), James Kottak (Scorpions) and CC Deville (Poison) to name a few. Ronny's guitar instrumental music gets airplay, press and sells CD's in Japan, Europe and in the U.S..He is in high demand to do clinics for his sponsors (He currently has full endorsements by 50 different companies)and regularly does clinics and trade shows all over America for them including the annual NAMM shows (National Association of Music Merchants). Ronny is also regularly sought out from music equipment manufacturers for his input on the development of new products. MTV licensed Ronny’s music from his CD “GOING PSYKO” for their "Real World" reality TV program. The song "Race with Me" is featured on the Morley Pedals Compilation CD that is available free at all authorized Morley dealers or from www.morley.com. Ronny won Best Male Guitarist Award at the 2006 All Access Magazine Music Awards. After the win Ronny was featured in a cool interview in All Access Magazine talking about his win. Ronny was also featured in Guitar Player Magazine where GP magazine head editor Michael Molenda said some very complimentary things about Ronny’s playing.Ronny is regularly featured in ad campaigns for his many sponsors.His ads have run in Guitar Player, Guitar World and Premier Guitar Magazines among others.He is currently featured in ads for JP Guitar Tool, The Carpal Solution and the Traveling Guitar Charity (Ronny's featured in the ad along side Steve Lukather and a few other prominent players).Did we mention that he also has a signature RN face plate for the Guitar Hero controller that is now available at Ronny's website? The faceplate looks just like Ronny's guitar.On that note,there's a couple of other signature products that are in the works as well. He was also featured or interviewed in Guitar Player Magazine, Premier Guitar Magazine, Guitar World Magazine,MMR Magazine, Performer Magazine, Music Connection Magazine, Flash Magazine (From Italy) and Fireworks Magazine in Europe in March 2008 (issue # 31) and is featured on the Fireworks compilation CD that comes with the magazine.Ronny was also featured in the May 2010 issue of Music Connection Magazine.On top of all that, he writes the Psyko Guitar column for Guitar International Magazine. He also does live concert reviews and product reviews for the magazine. If that wasn't enough, Ronny also finds time to regularly play several charity events such as events for the Troops, Toys for Tots, Breast Cancer, Covenant House ,Veterans in Need , The local School District ( Ronny plays charity events for the schools to raise money for their music programs to help get kids into music)and events for Musicians in need. He has been playing the Special Olympics Summer Games for the last 10 consecutive years and he will be performing at several events for the victims of the Haiti Quakes.Ronny also part of Guitar for Vets.The organization provides guitars and lessons to vets in need of guitars (www.guitarsforvets.org)who have no way of getting them other wise. Ronny will be doing lots of events for them and states, that it's always great to use your talent to help others in need. It's what it's all about!He was also honored with his own Ronny North Day at his old high school (Norwalk High School in Norwalk, Calif) on April 7th, 2009. Ronny sat in on the guitar classes at the school and taught the students a few things and answered questions. He also spoke in the career center at the school about the music business and his adventures in it followed by a performance with his band for the entire student body. To top it off, Fox 11 TV News came down and shot Ronny live on the air during his day.In April 2009 Morley Products named Ronny their artist of the month. On May 1st of 2009 Ronny and his band headlined the New River Elementary Music Benefit to raise money for the much in need music program to keep the kids playing music. Their music program was hit with severe budget cuts.He and his band then played the LA Marathon on May 25th.Ronny was invited to be one of the judges at the Norwalk High School Senior Project on June 4th and on June 12th he once again sat in with the school's guitar class to show the kids a few acoustic guitar things.Ronny played the Special Olympic Summer Games on June 13th (It was his 10th consecutive year performing at the event).On July 3rd Ronny and his band played a special event for the Vets in need on their base in Long Beach.On July 7th,2009, he played a guitar clinic at the Rock & Roll Emporium in Huntington Beach, Calif (The last clinic he did at the store in 2007 was packed).On May 12th,2009, Ronny played the world famous Baked Potato Jazz Club in Studio City, Calif to a packed house.On July 16th Ronny attended the Artist Relations event at Summer NAMM in Nashville and then performed everyday of the 2009 Summer NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants)on July 17-19th for several of his sponsors. He made quite the splash at the show as always and his demos were packed and of course he did lots of press.On Oct 10th,2009, Ronny and his band played the main stage at Nascar's Copart 300 Race at Autoclub Speedway in Fontana Calif.He then was invited by the Rhoads family to play at Rhoadsfest on Dec 6th, 2009.The event was a tribute to the late Randy Rhoads.Ronny's new CD "Light" will be released in March 2010.The new electric CD will feature many music styles and will is Ronny's most daring and diverse instrumental CD to date.Ronny world premiered the new CD live on the air on KNAC Radio on Feb 24th, 2010.The new single "Tomorrow is Burning"was #25 on the station' top's 40 and the only instrumental track in the count down not to mention he was the only independant artist as well.There is also a cool new video for the song as well featuring the giant bunnies.Ronny kicked off 2010 by playing 2010 Winter NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants)Trade show on Jan 14-17th for several of his sponsors and was even joined onstage during his band's performance on the NAMM stage by his friend (guitar great) Gary Hoey.He played with Dilana on Feb 5th at the world famous Roxy in Hollywood and had an amazing show that was well attended with lots of fans and press.He is also featured in the new book by author Sharon Jacobucci that features pictures and stories from many famous musicians and actors that live and or hang out in Venice Beach, Calif..Some of the people featured in the book are Wisley Snipes, members of Metallica as well as many others.If all that isn't enough Ronny world premiered his new CD "Light" live on the air at the KNAC studios on Jan 24th,2010 (www.knac.com).The Light CD came out in early March 2010 right before Ronny played the Randy Rhoads tribute concerts in Japan with Kelle Rhoads and Kelly Garni. The trio headlined the shows to packed venues.Ronny was interviewed in Japan by all the Japanese music magazines including Young Guitar Magazine.He also just played the main stage at the Stater Bros 300 for Nascar at Auto Club Speedway and the Artists for Haiti Concert as well as the 2010 LA Marathon (in front of 25,000 runners) , The House of Blues in Hollywood with Steel Panther on March 12th and the main stage of the 2010 Long Beach Grand Prix on March 18th (they played in the Long Beach Sports Arena right before the big race).He also just headlined a packed show at Angels in Corona in front of screaming fans on May 15th, 2010.Ronny also managed to squeeze in a performance for the kids at Norwalk High School on June 18th and headlined two packed shows at the Oasis Bar in Palm Springs and he also did a free guitar clinic at the Musicians Outlet Music Store in July 2010.Did we mention that he recently taped a guest appearance on the new TV Reality show "All Worked Up"? The show started airing on Tru TV in June 2010.Next up some guitar clinics at Guitar Center for his sponsors , a performanace at the Taste of Marina Festival in August , a performance at the Imagine Festival in Toronto Canada alongside some major artists on Labor Day Weekend and a tour to promote the new CD along with shows in Canada,Europe and abroad.
