Roger Eason was born and raised in Central Alabama immersed into religion, traditionalism, and racism. He eventually found his own beliefs that lead to his strong ambition to create something unique that was not just like everything around him. The same terrors of religion, traditionalism, and racism that he grew up around are often reoccurring themes in his works. Every aspect of each song he writes has some type of enveloped meaning. Each song has "hidden characters" that may be revealed by the listeners. But the characters are different for each person who truly investigates his songs. Much like a painter views a canvas this young songwriter views song crafting.
Consequently, he hopes his listeners will view his music in the same manner. He states, "I want the listeners to gather their own thoughts and feelings about what the songs mean to them." Although his musical creations are viewed as abstract and different, this means he is creating something unique. "I believe most modern song crafting is very similar to a happy meal, simple and cheap." He wants to give people something honest that does not just feed their egoism. Whether his creation is a masterpiece or a piece of disaster, he leaves the decision up to each listener.
