Biography
Peggy Salvatore is a veteran singer and songwriter clocking many years on stage, in the studio and at the piano creating pop tunes. Peggy spent her teens and early 20s traveling and fronting show bands, and has worked with legendary musicians, arrangers and songwriters.
As a songwriter, her mainstream country and rock material has been published by Mighty Three Music in Philadelphia and ACM Records of New York. She has been recorded by Janie Fricke and Lynn Anderson.
As a performer, she fronted both country rock and disco show/dance bands. Most recently, she has begun to dabble in musical theater playing Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie in the Pocono Mountains in 2003 and Lynne in A Grand Night For Singing, a Rogers and Hammerstein musical revue, in Philadelphia in 2005.
Peggy comes by her musical inclinations through both branches of her family tree. Her father was a jazz piano player, arranger and vocalist; her paternal grandmother played piano for the silent movies; her maternal grandmother played the piano and sang gigging into her 90th year; her cousin is a musician and songwriter who owns his own successful indie rock studio in Virginia Beach; and she has numerous uncles, cousins and great-uncles who have worked in the music industry for more than a century.
Besides a penchant for taking the stage, she also has inherited a cabinetful of original sheet music from both sides of her family that she cherishes. She is thankful that the family has chosen her as its repository. And she is also grateful to Eve Adams, Al Cohen and ACM Records for believing in her.
