Biography
Music has been there for me all my life. I remember singing with my father and my older brother, John, around the piano when I was little. I married and moved to Gore with my family in 1964. The Gold Guitars Awards started in 1974 with 38 entrants, where I was the very first contestant on stage my little piece of Gold Guitars History! It was at these awards that I performed "Waltz of the Angels," which you will be on the new album, "Contrasts." It is also streamable on the Music Page. In 1987, I was a finalist in the Female Vocals which was won by Marianne Stephens who was the overall winner that year. In the 70s, I performed in 3 TV programmes, namely "The Entertainers" twice and "Singer for Asia." I also entered many awards and even went to Tamworth in 1976.
I joined the Gore Operatic Society and performed in quite a number of musicals and theatre restaurant productions. I also directed a couple of Theatre Restaurant shows for them.
My cd, "Moods and Memories," had been a dream for years. My friend, Brian Ringrose, arranged and recorded it in November 2003 and it includes many favourite songs. In November 2004, I wrote my first song "What Made a Good Love Go Wrong." My family 4 kids, 4 grandchildren and my best friend, Herb, all loved it. Love you, guys!
I was introduced to the Internet Radio in early 2005. My music has now been played all over the world. Then WHP/TKO/Echota Records put my song on a "Comp CD" and things took off for me. I met Jose Daniel from Mississippi through the Internet and recorded a duet with him called "Happy Anniversary," which is hopefully the first of many with him.
In January 2005, I entered the Tui Gold Guitar Awards in the category of "Best Country Music Album of the Year, 2005." The Tui's were held on June 3rd, where I was placed joint runner-up with Noel Burns to Kylie Harris. Kylie, now of Nashville, took out the Tui Award that night! Congratulations to you all!
During 2006 and also this year I have been entertaining locally in Christchurch with my friend Brian Ringrose and a girlfriend singing Rock'n'Roll at a local restaurant once a month. What a blast! All those good old songs that bring back memories. And quite a few good old country songs thrown in.
I have also been working on my 2nd cd 'Cranberry Cove' which should be out either August or September this year - 2007. It has 14 tracks on it - 7 originals and 7 covers. 3 of the originals I have written myself and a 4th one I co-wrote with my friend David Erik (IndieIslands) I can't wait to get it out there because there is such a lot of good new songs in it.
Until then, keep it Country
