Not only do I admire her talent, but also her determination and perseverance through which she has created a thriving career as a woman in this industry. Her story motivates me as a young woman navigating the music business.” Olivia exclaims. Olivia Jo’s single, “Nothing to Lose,” is an upbeat bluegrass number with a melody and lyrics that will catch your attention. This song pairs the artist’s strong lead vocals with the prolific lead and harmony vocals of bluegrass vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Lou Reid.

Olivia says, "Nothing to Lose was written by Kim Fox, a renowned songwriter across multiple genres. Lou brought the song to my attention and together we decided to make the song a duet. I was very happy to have his accompaniment on this song. I really enjoyed recording this song because it has a different style than my previously released singles, which allowed me to show a different side of my voice. All in all, I am quite pleased with how the song turned out and I’m excited to release it as my next single."

Reid also commented on working with the up-and-coming artist. “I really enjoyed working with Olivia on her new project, ‘Nothing to Lose.’ She really puts her heart in a song.”

Mighty Mississippi (2:28)

Songwriters, Publishing & PRO:
Randy Sparks / New Christy Publishing Co Obo Cherrybell Music Publishing Co / ASCAP

ISRC Code: QZVSB2200001

Radio Release Date: February 6, 2023
Public Release Date: February 24, 2023

Mighty Mississippi was written by Randy Sparks, a member of the folk revival group The New Christy Minstrels and was first released by the group in 1963. However, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver picked it up and released a bluegrass cover of the song on The Original Band album in 1979. In 2023, Olivia Jo is excited to be releasing her version of Mighty Mississippi.

"I had never heard The New Christy Minstrels version of Mighty Mississippi. I had only heard Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver's cut, which I love... until I did some digging and found the original version of the song. I was immediately hit by the stark contrast of the two versions and could appreciate both for their individuality. Truthfully, I think that's the beauty of doing a cover song. You can create something new and fresh while still keeping the integrity of the original song alive; and that’s what I tried to accomplish with my take of Mighty Mississippi." Olivia Jo explains.

You'll Always Be My Blue Eyed Darling (3:11)

Songwriters, Publishing & PRO:
Glenn Stagner / Sony/ATV Music Publishing OBO Sony/ATV Acuff Rose Music / BMI

ISRC Code: QZVSB2200002

Release Date: September 16th, 2022

Also known as, "Blue Eyed Darling" or "My Blue Eyed Darling," this song has been around for quite a while and has been covered by a plethora of artists since its first release by Roy Acuff and His Smoky Mountain Boys in 1940; but in all those years it has never been released by a female artist. Olivia Jo is debuting her version of this old classic in 2022.

"I first heard this song performed by Harley Allen with the Allen Brothers from an excerpt of one of their concerts in the early 1980s. I was instantly drawn to Harley's voice and the way he sang it. When choosing my first single to debut as an up-and-coming bluegrass artist, I wanted to release something timeless and classic, a song every listener would love and relate to that would also showcase my vocal style and range. With an attention-grabbing twin fiddle intro, a beautiful bluegrass melody with just a touch of traditional country flare, and plaintive lyrics that tell the familiar tale of a love gone wrong, I think this song checks all of those boxes." - Olivia Jo
