Contra dances in Kansas City and Independence, Missouri and in Kansas dances in Merriam, Wichita and Lawrence.
Nine Mile Burn is a tune which borrows it's name from a Scottish town, so named because it is located on a river 9 miles from Edinborough Castle . It is also rumored that the name refers to the English practice of burning everything in a nine mile radius after sacking a town or village (we understand this is no longer done). From what we know, this does not appear to be true.
