Biography
Imagine if you will, Nigel Kennedy, Jeff Beck and Chick Corea meeting up, performing a 'menage a trios' and having a love child; the result is the new album 'Solo?', written, performed, produced and independently released by Scottish guitar virtuoso NIck Andrew.
What makes this album different is that Nick played all the instruments himself. All on guitar!
Nick is a remarkably accomplished guitarist whose range encompasses the full spectrum from flamenco and classical to jazz and rock and he is not only a dazzling soloist but also an intuitive and creative rhythm player.
He has in the past worked on a wide range of solo and collaborative projects with various cover bands including FU2K (a U2 tribute band) and members of Paul Wellers band and Napalm Death (no joke!). He is also the guitarist and producer of the UKs leading Jazz Fusion outfit, Curfew (www.curfew.co.uk, www.airplaydirect.com/music/curfew).
You can also hear Nick playing with SKB, on the single January.
As well as gigging with Curfew, SKB and playing solo shows, Nick also writes for the online guitar magazine, alloutguitar.com.
"Nick presents a debut album that shifts from Rimsky-Korsakov via Paganini, to his own Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra.
Unique and imaginative, his mastery of the solo guitar shines throughout. "
Musician Magazine
"Nick is an ace who proves it with his versatility and the guitar command."
