MOHAVISOUL, is an award-winning, San Diego-based, California-style Contemporary Bluegrass-Americana band playing original music that combines West Virginia roots with 5th-generation California heritage. MohaviSoul wraps storytelling in music with a blend of original music and great covers. MohaviSoul has released five CD’s: Every Second (1/2013), Blue Diesel (12/2013), Hometown Blues (8/2017), Live at the 42nd Annual Huck Finn Jubilee (12/2019), and “Stories and Memories” (1/2021), plus a re-release of their instrumental called PCH-928 in December, 2022 and three releases from their upcoming 6th album “MohaviSoul” with “Hurry Up and Wait”, a cover of the FastBall hit “The Way”, & another original “Get Lucky Again.” Their two new albums called “MohaviSoul” and “Encore” will be released in 2024 with two more singles released for radio play from this first album.

MohaviSoul gained national attention at the Bluegrass Ramble in September 2021 in Raleigh, NC as an invited Showcase Artist at the IBMA World of Bluegrass, and was the first band since Nickel Creek invited to represent SoCal at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass. The Bluegrass Standard said of Hometown Blues CD - “The band is able to blend all types of bluegrass, that include traditional, newgrass, & original material. It’s bluegrass from the soul that harkens back to the origins of bluegrass music blended explicitly in a contemporary sound. Their outstanding playing on all tracks tell they love what they do. “On My Way” best exemplifies each player solo instrumentation & ability to blend their unique sound.” San Diego Music Awards Academy (SDMA) nominated Hometown Blues best album of year (2018) & Stories and Memories (2022) and SDMA nominated for Best Country/Americana Band (2020, 2022, 2023).

Our MohaviSoul self-titled 6th album is a departure from our previous all-original albums with a fun mix of new MohaviSoul originals and covers. We have played these covers live and many of you have asked for copies of these unusual and fun covers. So here we go, done MohaviSoul style!! Hurry Up and Wait was the San Diego Music Awards (2024) Best Country/Americana Song.

MohaviSoul’s last album, “Stories and Memories,” is getting rave reviews, national and international radio play, awards, and nominations too. This includes great reviews from the San Diego Troubadour, Alternate Root Magazine, and Bluegrass Unlimited (https://www.bluegrassunlimited.com/article/stories-and-memories/), that calls MohaviSoul the “Seldom Scene of the West,” which is a huge compliment too. MohaviSoul’s song “Make It Up” from this album also won best Bluegrass/Country Song for the 18th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards (2022). Several songs also have charted in the Grassicana top 20 from radio play in 2022.
