Marlon Asher, a native Trinidadian is the first reggae singer out of Trinidad & Tobago who is now one of the most sought out artists in the country. The name "Asher" was derived from the 12 tribes of Israel and "Asher" is the tribe which represents December and the spirit of Christ.

His musical style is that of a conscious reggae artist and he cites Bob Marley, Dennis Brown and Barrington Levy as some of his musical mentors. Marlon feels that reggae touches his soul and he wants to communicate that extension of spiritual soulfulness with the world. His messages are easily conveyed through the poignant lyrics in his songs “Blessings”, “Give Thanks & Praises”, “Love of Jah” and “ Fit & Strong”.

Marlon Asher's talent and ingenuity was revealed with the release of the song Ganja Farmer which became a huge hit via aggressive underground marketing. Marlon Asher’s debut song, the very controversial, Ganja Farmer was the biggest reggae tune to hit the airwaves in this decade, so much that people are now calling this song a classic anthem. The powerful herbalist anthem was released in 2004 in Trinidad and Tobago and rapidly became a hit in the United States, Africa and Europe.

To date, Marlon has toured the Caribbean, The United States, Africa and the UK. He has taken the stage with veteran artists such as Glen Washington, Luciano, Shaggy & Rayvon, Munga, Turbulance, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Damien “Jr Gong” Marley, Collie Buddz, Sizzla, Bascom X Buju Banton, Cecile, Mr. Easy, Richie Spice & Antony B, to name a few.

Asher feels that he has been blessed and his future is one that will involve him singing. Asher says, " I believe I am a messenger here to deliver a serious message.” Asher also has a message for the youth: " Your talent should never go to waste because with God all things are possible. Pray hard and you will succeed".

The 7” record was pressed and released through Ambassador Records in Brooklyn and became the stores HIGHEST single seller in over 10 years. The “Ganja Farmer” was the lead track on the Greensleeves Reggae One Drop Anthems 2006 and continues to be the highest downloaded song from the singer on Itunes. In 2007, David Arquette included the Ganja Farmer for his directorial movie debut “The Tripper”.

Marlon Asher is now considered the reggae ambassador for the clothing line “Color Heritage” inspired and designed by Trinidadian born, Winston Jack who worked as a designer for renowned hip-hop mogul Jay-Z at Roca Wear. Marlon can soon be seen promoting a customized line of clothing for “Color Heritage”.

On November 1st, 2007, Marlon Asher took home the COTT Award (Copyright Organization of Trinindad & Tobago) for best Reggae/Dancehall Artist. It was Asher’s second nomination but his first win. The COTT award was the first award of recognition for his musical success by his country.
