Biography
On October 29th singer-songwriter guitar whiz
John Findlay will showcase songs @ Hughs Room from his up & coming CD: FAIRPLAY

"My sound is a kind of uptown goes downtown."

Steely Dan meets Little Feat with a touch of Motown: a mix of blues-jazz and funky Nawlins grooves fit snugly into a pop framework:" I like to write lots of different grooves & vibes: from frivolous R&B pop to serious & darkmy most recent favorite song is no party-pleaser, its a tribute to Neil Stonechild, a native youth who was taken for the Starlight Tour by the Saskatoon police in 1990. "
On the flip-side JF has the party tune Voodoo Chief a tip of the hat to Dr. John.I started writing a lot of Nawlins type stuff before Hurricane Katrina-then after-I wrote 2 or 3 tribute songs about the disaster.(High Water & Ninth Ward)-both receiving airplay at
Lagniappe Broadcast Network-Radio New Orleans.

John has been an in-demand session guitarist & piano player for the likes of Marc Jordan, Sylvia Tyson, Cindy Church, Carlos Del Hunco, Colin Linden and most notably Matt Guitar Murphy , who was an early side man of Howlin Wolf (and who appeared in the original Blues Brothers movie as Aretha Franklins husband).

Johns voice has been compared to James Taylor meets Eddie Boyd, Mixed with the blue-eyed rock & soul styling of Paul Rodgers:

The Eddie Boyd version of the blues classic, Five Long Years
is my all-time favorite -I wrote an updated arrangement of that song -but I kept his melody the same.

A major influence in his songwriting & production is the world of
film composing. Having scored numerous documentaries (and jingles),the influences of Morricone & Mancini seep into the bluesy rock vibe for cinematic effect. The History of the Jeep-the last documentary John scored won awards at WorldFest in Houston.

On Oct. 29th John will be joined by such musical luminaries
as Mark Kelso (drums), John Johnson (sax), Scott Alexander (bass), Brent Barkman (piano), Jim Tait (guitar) promising an evening of momentous funk & intense blowing.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
