Biography
Who’s Johnnie? Johnnie Foster is the missing piece for a desperately needing to be solved puzzle called today’s music. His sound is that of Inspiration and has crossover appeal in Gospel, Soul, Pop and R&B that has not been seen since the days of Sam Cooke. It can be listened to on Saturday night and Sunday morning. As a prolific writer, producer, arranger and tremendous vocal talent, he is the past, present and future of the music industry.

Foster, born and raised in Durham, N.C. to a musical family began his career at the age of 10. “I was always pushed out in front of the older kids to sing. There were 15 yr. olds doing backgrounds for me” says Johnnie. He performed in various talent competitions and was recognized in Durham for his ability to entertain a crowd. During High School, he became a member of John P. Kee’s Revelational Experience Choir where he developed a skill for writing lyrics.

He later moved to Los Angeles, C.A. to further his career. “It was time to leave Durham and gain some life experiences.” As a member of the group IZ, he recorded and released his first single, Da Bomb, on an independent label. “When you’re young and trying to break into the business, any experience is helpful.” This was also the time he did his first studio “sessions for hire” getting a chance to work with and learn from Marvin Gaye’s producer, Harvey Fuguay. Since leaving L.A., Johnnie has had several songs published, released and distributed by companies such as CBS, CEI Gospel and Scotty Brothers Records as a lyricist and arranger. He has also performed backgrounds for Dorothy Norwood and opened for Luther Barnes, Cynthia Jones, Detrick Haddon and Vickie Winans as well as a host of others. He has also been featured on the television show Spiritual Awakening. He has also been nominated male vocalist of the year in 2005 & 2006 for the Prestige Award by the Gospel Announcers Guild and nominee for 2006 & 2007 Newsome Awards male vocalist of the year.

Currently, Johnnie is working with Jimmy Brown of EJ Productions and other producers on his second CD. Johnnie is also commissioned to collaborate with other producers, writers and artists because of his gift to write good hooks and captivating lyrics, since finishing his first solo CD titled Testimony. His singles, Rollin’ with the Savior, Testimony and Love Calls are currently in rotation on WSRC, WTIK, WNCU in Durham, N.C. 92.7 in Brunswick, GA, airing in Kansas City and on several internet radio stations.

Johnnie is also an ordained minister and founder of a street ministry called Freedom Through Christ Group Ministries a ministry that helps people in need and struggling with strongholds. This ministry has been instrumental in leading many people to Christ.
