James Daniels
Biography
Known in the D.C. area as one of the most versatile artists in Christian music, Holy Hip Hop and Contemporary Gospel Artist James Daniels is preparing for his third release, Set Free. Right on the heels of his blazing hot project, We Need You Now, which saw airplay on XM Radio's Spirit 33, Daniels returns with brand new musical offering. Set Free is an eclectic mix of urban gospel music suited to soothe the soul of the hurting or lost.

Featuring the lead single “Believer”, the project showcases Daniels as a proficient rapper complemented with thoughtful and reflective lyrics. With help from vocalist Liz Adams, the lyricist raps over a thick beat and a catchy hook declaring the awesomeness and the faithfulness of God. Stepping from MC to vocalist, “Real”, another strong urban cut, opens with a well-known scripture, Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the LORD has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.” “Don't Pass Me By” grabs the listener from beat one as Daniels sings about the need for God. Other strong cuts include the bouncy, inspiring “Hold On”, the slamming “What's Your Position” and the CD's title tune, a hip hop masterpiece featuring Ason.

Daniels, a native from Chicago and current D.C. area resident, has been singing since he was a youth. He's backed artists like Kim & Kelly, a group created by “Be Encouraged” sensation William Becton, and opened for KJ-52 Byron Cage, Canton Jones and Fred Hammond. Although his musical beginnings started in the traditional church - he grew up at Trinity UCC in Chicago, IL - he later realized that the people he was called to reach were listening to more contemporary styles of music. That revelation led him to connect with underground Christian Hip Hop artists Ason, Kyana, Excelsius, DKUN Frost and J-Mac.
