Biography

HYPERSOUL is the result of a lot of hard work by producer/songwriter, Garrett Cullen, whose musical aspirations have remained firmly centered in electronic music since the 80's. A native of San Jose, CA, Garrett met other like-minded musicians who helped propel him from the life of an avid listener and record collector to that of genuine songwriter as he moved through the 90's.

Around 1991, as part of the band MusicBox, he and then partner, Jonathan Clute, performed various gigs around the SF Bay Area with some success. Although the band eventually ran out of steam, Garrett kept writing and producing.

In 1998 Garrett moved to Boston, MA, where the band Hypersoul began. He tried to pair up with different singers to help parcel down the workload, but none of the partnerships gained any serious traction. Even still, the name Hypersoul seemed to embody Garrett's brand and continues to work under this name.

Now a resident of Raleigh, NC, Garrett is keeping Hypersoul alive and well. Hypersoul's first album, Getaway, was released in 2008. And now with the advancements in recording & mixing technology is finally able to push the songs further than ever before in sound and quality. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come from Hypersoul.
