Biography
Doug Jayne started working in the record business in 1975: Working for chain retailers, Wherehouse and Music Plus, and finally settling in Santa Rosa, CA as co-owner of The Last Record Store in 1983.

Around 1990, Doug fronted the mildly popular band Stupid White People as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. After a few years and too many beers, Doug decided to retire from SWP to spend more time drinking with his family. In 1996, Doug started Jackalope Records, an independent record label and recording studio.

1996 also marks the year Doug began hosting the radio show Connections on KRCB FM, Sonoma County's NPR affiliate, and premier public radio station.

Jackalope Records' first release in 1996 was called Connections, a compilation of local musicians which served as a fund raising tool for the non-profit KRCB.

Doug was writing new songs, and had a few classic tunes from the Stupid White People era, which comprised his first solo album, It Looks Like She's Going On A Trip which was released in 2002.

Doug produced several projects at Jackalope, including albums by Modern Hicks, The Ruminators, Greenhouse, more KRCB collections which have included contributions from Johnny Otis, Tom Waits, Laurie Lewis, Dave Alvin and dozens more.

Doug formed the band Laughing Gravy in 2003, a seven piece Americana group that features Allegra Broughton and Sam Page from the band Solid Air, as well as one of his long time collaborators, multi-instrumentalist Kevin Russell.

Laughing Gravy's first album, A Tribute to Gram Parsons was released in 2005 and nominated for a Grammy in the Best Country Album category (The Dixie Chicks won it that year).

In 2007, Doug released Voices In The Wind to glowing reviews. It spent some time on the Americana Music Charts, and was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Contemporary Folk / Americana Album (somebody else won!)

Doug produced the CD collection, LIVE at the Krush in 2008 (a Jackalope Records release) and in 2009 began hosting the popular radio program Real Jazz on KRSH radio.

In 2009, Doug decided to explore the 60's Folk Revival Era, and began working on an album of cover songs to be called, Folk University.

The album, which features his Laughing Gravy alumni, is 12 song musical romp featuring tunes by Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs and Fred Neil, to name a few.

Folk University was released in November 2010. Doug is planning a world tour for the fall of 2011.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
