DEN HOLLINDEN

Den Hollinden is a storyteller who uses his palette of rootsy country sounds--like steel, Dobro and vintage guitars--to communicate emotion and paint scenes of Americana. As a singer, songwriter and producer, Den is intimately involved in every step of the production of his music.

Although having a reputation musically as an individualist, Den works hard to be easy to work with and values interaction with other artists through the premier professional music organizations. As a writer, Den is affiliated with ASCAP, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Nashville's Tennessee Songwriters Association International, and the Washington, DC area's Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW.) As an artist, Den is a member of the Recording Academy (NARAS,) Academy of Country Music (ACM,) and the Americana (AMA) and Roots (RMA) Music, and Pedal Steel Guitar (PSGA) Associations.

Den has been performing in some form or another since he was 6, learned to play guitar in junior high school, and started writing music when he was 15. By the time he started college, Den was singing his own songs live, accompanying himself on guitar. Parallel to the development of his music skills, Den found his way in audio engineering, graduating from low fidelity analog cassette tape to using digital methods while still preserving an analog flavor. By the early 2000's, Den had honed his signature sound and acquired the ability to produce radio-quality content. Timing was good, as a local radio station was looking for new Christmas songs to support their seasonal all-holiday format. Den's "St. Henry Christmas" became the area's most-requested holiday tune.

Den's next release, "Somebody Over There" (title single,) got local airplay and was featured in a TV program welcoming home veterans of Iraqi Freedom.

Den then released the 4-song "little time" (EP single.) The record includes "Biggest Hearts in Texas," a song Den originally created as a fundraiser for Texas Children's Hospital cancer patient Merrik Medrano and "The Basketball Song" which sets the Hoosier sport of choice to music.

Both those previous singles (as well as the current "Blacksburg" release) include cuts from Den's upcoming SOMEBODY OVER THERE album, a tribute to troops, veterans and other citizens caught up in life-and-death struggles. Several songs from the album are already Internet legends--including "Friendly Fire," the Dixie Chicks roast.

Den's AirPlay Direct goal is to expand his audience from the local DC live music scene, Den's native Southern Indiana terrestrial radio and TV, Texas fans of his recorded music, and pockets of Internet listeners as far flung as Australia to regular rotation on terrestrial, satellite and Internet radio stations playing Den-compatible formats such as Americana, roots and real country music. If that sounds like your station, share some Denuine reality with your listeners today.
