Biography
On piano, Danny Green is a formidable, tasty player who is equally versed in classical, jazz and Latin styles. Starting his musical studies at the young age of 5, Danny went on to pursue a B.A. in piano performance at UCSD. In January 2006, Danny released his first album, Past Due, featuring nine of his Latin Jazz compositions and arrangements. He currently leads the Danny Green Quintet, co-leads Gente Fina, and is a member of the 13-piece Salsa band, Trece de la Suerte.
Danny Green Quintet:
This Latin Jazz group was formed in February 2004 under the name "Caballero-Verde Quintet". Currently, the group features Ian Tordella on sax and flute, Jeff Sly Simon on bass, Dylan Savage on drums, and Steve Haney on percussion. With a diverse selection of material including both covers and originals, the Danny Green Quintet offers its listeners a musical journey through Latin America. Jazz writer, Dirk Binsau, says of their latest release, "With nine exquisite songs on offer Past Due is a great instrumental album played by a tight band that every fan of Latin Jazz should own."
